We didn't want the day to end, so we decided to walk to the dam, and then, over the High Bridge.
LJ learned all about trees that smell like vanilla, chocolate or strawberry from Bruce- and lo and behold, if LJ didn't find trees of all three types! (and strawberry is super hard to find!).
I took LJ to Chelsey's Puzzle Tree, and we picked up tons of "puzzle pieces" (the bark of the Ponderosa Pine sloughs off in pieces that actually look like they've come off of a jigsaw puzzle! It's a defense against forest fires- if a spark hits the bark, it actually POPS off, landing away from the timber, hopefully thwarting the fire's attempt to burn up the tree! Isn't nature amazing?)
LJ and I agreed that jumping off the High Bridge would be really STUPID!!! and besides, it's probably illegal.
We, also, agreed that probably somebody had already tried it. :(
It was HOT!!! and watching the geese swimming around, cool as could be, made us want to get to the water.
so we went down to the river to cool off.
Lani was hot, too.
She saw LJ in his sunglasses and hat, and thought she'd like to be wearing those, too!
All I can say is.... Pretty, darn cute! LOL!
She is very cute. And cool in those shades!!!!. I remember those trees and the boys had brought home some "puzzle pieces" when we were there. I think we only found ones that smelled like chocolate. Good for you, LJ, on finding the others!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember learning about vanilla and chocolate trees, too!!! LJ is about the coolest cat I've ever seen. Just adorable!
