LJ helps with haying

Ok... I told you'd I'd get back to explaining when we first realized just how special and tenacious our LJ is!
Bruce STILL had to pick 3 tons of hay for our horses.
When Cade came home to see his Aunt, and cousins, Bruce pressed him into service. I, still, drove the truck, and I thought maybe LJ would enjoy coming with us.
Bruce and Cade were loading the truck and trailer, while LJ sat in the truck with me.
He seemed a bit restless, so I asked him if he'd rather be out of the truck, running around, and he jumped at the chance... but it wasn't because he wanted to play.
LJ watched for awhile... and saw where he could help. He started pushing the bales on the trailer so they were packed tightly, and we could get more on.
He was really good at it! but that wasn't enough for him.
He wanted to help! REALLY help.
The bales were HEAVY... and he's only 10, but he wrestled a couple up to the truck.
Then, he had an idea! He started rolling the bales!
which was hard work.
and he didn't stop there. When he got to the trailer, he insisted on loading them himself.
He got many, many bales on the trailer this way! And he didn't stop until the job was done!
It was LJ who spotted the 40 head of elk come out of the woods while we bucked bales.
LJ returned with us the next night, too.  In fact, he got the first two bales of hay on the trailer while Cade and Bruce chatted with the rancher!
We got all our hay in- 6 tons!
MUCH thanks to Bruce, Cade and LJ! Well done, men!

  1. Awesome job to everyone. I never thought of rolling the bales. Good thinking, LJ. I'm glad you got it all done.
